Momo Dieng

His real name is Mouhamed Dieng, Momo was born in 1993 in Rufisque in Dakar.
A griot by father and mother, young Momo inherited the exceptional talent of his paternal
grandmother Ndeye Ngom MBAMBILOR.
He very early followed in the footsteps of his father El Hadji Ndiouga DIENG, one of the
precursors of Senegalese music and founder of the legendary BAOBAB Orchestra.
This is how this young boy, aged 13, enjoyed sharing his time between his studies and his
passion for music, supervised by his mentor and older brother Alpha DIENG.
From his elementary school Keur Maa Natu to the School of Fine Arts in Dakar and the
orchestra of his older brother Alpha Dieng, Momo DIENG attracted the attention of his
elders with his melodious and conquering voice.
In 2009, he met a young guitarist and with some friends they set up his own musical group
with which he produced two songs in August 2013 entitled MBEUGUEL & THIAT which
will mark music lovers.
In 2014, under the advice of his father; he joined the Prince Arts Label with which he
released his first album LANG GUI in 2017 which delighted the public.
In 2019, the maxi album CEY LII was released with its hits title YOLE YOLE.
In 2022 and 2024, Momo released two successful live Performance albums.
These successful and popular YENDU shows confirmed his status as a rising star of
Senegalese music. Moreover, it was during these wild performances on the Almadies
corniche; that one of the biggest hits of Senegalese music in recent years was born SAF NA
BA NOPI.
It was in December 2024 that Momo was able to fulfill his dream of following in the
footsteps of one of his mentors Youssou Ndour by performing in the magnificent Dakar
Arena, a challenge he took up.
Momo is part of the circle of young talents that Senegal has.
He is undoubtedly a sure hope for Senegalese music.
